Frozen in order

When I listen to soundtracks, I listen to them with in chronological order, the way they were played in the movie, so that it’s as if I’m watching the movie all over again.

My latest project: Disney’s Frozen.
Get it in iTunes, Amazon, or the Disney Store.

The order of the songs and the scores in the first issue of the soundtrack is pretty easy. But mixing in the score demos and outtakes were a little bit trickier, but I think I got it down. (I hope!) Corrections are welcome!

Running time is 1 hour 29 minutes

Disney’s Tangled: bring on the hair!

To be completely honest, although I’ve enjoyed all Disney’s animated films, nothing affected me so much after Lion King. But by the looks of it, Tangled is going to make me feel like a kid again. Mostly because we’re going back to the castle, and how Disney princess used to be.

And, come on, just look at the cast! We have:

A feisty heroine. A damsel in distress, but at the same time…not.

A snarky hero. I LOVE SNARKY HEROES. Having smoldering eyes and Zachary Levi’s voice is DEFINITELY a plus.

Add this horse. This horse will be awesome. I know it.

And this chameleon. As far as cuddly animal friends go, this little guy looks like a kick-ass one.

I am certain that I’m going to LOVE this movie.

Like most Disney Princess movies, this one tweaks the story a bit and goes beyond just revolving around Rapunzel’s tower, but all the important elements are there. There’s the girl, there’s the tower, there’s the jailer-type “mother”, there’s the hero, and there’s the hair. Lots of it. And it looks awesome! Need proof? Watch this video. (No spoilers, don’t worry.)

I’ve been trying to restrain myself from getting too excited, but I’m actually jumping up and down here. I can’t wait!

TANGLED is coming to the Philippines on February 2, 2010 in Disney Digital 3D™ and regular format.

On repeat play: The Lion King Musical

If you’re like me and grew up on Disney movies, and/or if you love musical theater, then I’m pretty sure that you’ll love The Lion King Musical (if you don’t yet). I’ve had this album for years now, and every time I take it from my shelves and put it on my player, it almost always stays there for weeks.

The Lion King musical debuted 1997, and is faithful to the 1994 animated Disney film of the same name, save for a few new scenes. Which is awesome. I’ve seen movie-to-musical adaptations that were not executed well at all. Unfortunately, Disney’s The Little Mermaid musical is one of those. This, however, is spectacular.

Disney Pixar’s UP red carpet premier

They’ve done it again.

In Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, Ratatouille and Wall-E (among many others), Disney Pixar has continually given us heartwarming stories in fun-filled, action packed animation sequences with hilarious comedy. And just when you’re thinking, “Wow, this is the best yet!”, they suddenly come up with something even better.

And, yes, they’ve done it yet again.

Up is Pixar’s new feature film. You’ve probably seen the trailer. Maybe you’ve read story summaries that go similar to this:

Carl Fredricksen, a 78-year-old curmudgeonly balloon salesman, is not your average hero. When he ties thousangs of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America, he finally fulfills his life long dream of adventure. But after discovering an 8-year-old stowaway named Russel, this unlikely duo soon find themselves on a hilarious journey in a lost world filled with danger and surprises.

– Up on the Pixar website

But, if you ask me, that doesn’t cover half of it.

Up is a beautiful movie with lovable characters, gorgeous animation, a meaningful story, and a simply hilarious script. I went into the theater expecting a fun, kiddie movie, but got something much, much more than that. It’s hard to rave about it without spoiling the fun, so I’m going to stop trying to describe it now. Just… watch it. And if you can, watch it on 3D. It’s AWESOME.

Warning for parents of little kids: There’s about 10 or so minutes of story development that kids may find boring. (But adults will absolutely love, maybe even to the point of tears.) Be prepared to handle your kids at this time.

Up comes with Pixar’s latest short, Partly Cloudy, which tells the endearing tale of a stork and the cloud where he gets babies to deliver from.

Many thanks to TV5 for the red-carpet premier at SM Megamall Cinema 1, which, I only recently found out, was a now a 3D Cinema. Megamall has my favorite 3D glasses so far! They’re so comfy and not at all distracting, even though I had my eyeglasses on.

Also, check out other SM Cinemas! They have a contest for SM Cinema Up Displays. We had fun taking photo in the display in SM Megamall. More photos in Azrael’s album.

Up opens August 19 in theaters in the Philippines.
