After confusion about addressess, addressees and empty houses, finally, finally I was able to receive my parcel from FedEx.

And what does my parcel contain, you ask? It's my copy of The Princess Bride 20th Anniversary DVD! Yahoooooooo! It was so fun to watch it after all those years of loving and missing the movie. And knowing that I got it for free from winning a contest makes it even better. ^_____^ Of course there are extra stuff like interviews, info about fairytales, and a reversible storybook that I keep staring at. Haha! (The sponsors also gave me a shirt and a tennis ball and...other stuff.)

I would like to thank Screensucked for holding a contest. Also, many many thanks to World Wide Biggies, the company behind the DVD giveaway and the Princess Bride game (and also for being patient with my inquiries). FedEx also gets a special mention; I think they tried to deliver my parcel for, like, four times or something.

The Pinoy Blogosphere Announces Wika 2007

Eto na, mga kapatid! Kinuwento ko na 'to sa inyo, at ngayon, ipagkakalat na ang balita! Official na! Pwede n'yo nang tingnan ang mga detalye ng Wika 2007 Blog Writing Contest sa web page niya: Wika2007. (Malamang, y'on ang pangalan, di ba?)

Ang Wika 2007 Blog Writing Contest ay isang proyekto na sinimulan para ipagyabang ang kagandahan at katatagan ng wikang Pinoy. Ayon ito sa tema ng Buwan ng Wika ngayong taon: “Maraming Wika, Matatag na Bansa”. Higit na malakas ang impluwensya ng Internet sa kultura natin ngayon. Dahil dito, makakapagpatibay ng pagmamahal natin sa Wika ang pag-blog tungkol dito. Bukod do'n, pati na rin ang buong mundo ay mamamangha sa Filipino.

Magsisiumula ang pagtanggap ng entries sa ika-6 ng Agosto 2007, hanggang sa ika-18 ng Agosto 2007. Ang judging naman ay mula sa ika-20 hanggang ika-25 ng Agosto 2007. Ihahayag ang nanalong entry sa Pinoy Blogosphere website sa ika-29 ng Agosto 29 2007.

Bukas ang contest sa lahat ng bloggers na Pinoy, dito sa Pilipinas maging sa abroad.

Here it is, folks! I've primed you about it, and now the word is out! It's official! The Wika 2007 Blog Writing Contest details are now available in its page, Wika2007. (Of course that's what we named the page.)

The Wika 2007 Blog Writing Contest is a group writing effort aiming to trumpet the beauty and strength of the Filipino Language in line with this year’s Buwan ng Wika theme: “A gift of tongues for a strong nation”. With the significance of the Internet in shaping the culture today, blogging about the Language will not only enforce the online Filipinos’ love for their native tongue, but also promote it to bloggers around the world.

The submission of entries will officially start on August 6, 2007, and shall end on August 18, 2007. Judging shall be from August 20 to 25, 2007. The winning entry will be announced at the Pinoy Blogosphere site on August 29, 2007.

The contest is open to all Filipino bloggers, both in the Philippines and abroad.

Wika 2007 teaser

With August fast approaching, Philippine institutions are gearing up to hold events for the Buwan ng Wika.

"Buwan ng Wika" is literally translated as "Language Month", an event to celebrate the Filipino Language, as declared in Proclamation 1041 by Former President Fidel Ramos.

To celebrate in our own way, the PinoyBlogosphere is holding a blog writing contest called Wika2007. The organizers are...um...organizing the event as I type, and we just can't wait until we can get the contest mechanics and prizes out in the open.

Just to clue you in, though, here's how one of our previous conversations went:

"Ano bang prizes?" "Ano nga ba?" "1k?" "Ang liit naman ng 1K."

"What are the prizes?" "Yeah, what are they?" "One thousand [pesos]?" "That's way too small."

Yep. That is way too small, ain't it?

But, hey, don't do it for the money. Do it for the country! Or for the language! (And for the money, too!)
