The movie bloggers went to watch Monsters vs. Aliens last night at SM Mall of Asia IMAX theater. I’ve been (im)patiently waiting for the movie ever since I saw the trailer, and getting to watch it on IMAX made it even better. I think it’s also necessary to mention that this movie was the first I watched on IMAX. Yey!

Monsters vs. Aliens is exactly what the title says it is. It’s a movie with monsters fighting aliens. Sounds like a pretty common plot, I know, but this movie is everything except boring! The animation and casting is nothing less than Dreamworks Animation’s high standard. And, okay, even though it’s not as monumentally funny as Shrek, it’s loaded with heaps of ROFL moments, parodies, exciting chases, and even more ROFL moments. Kids will love the adventure, and adults will love the dialogue. I’ll gladly watch it on the big screen again, and eagerly wait to but an original DVD.

For me the movie itself is at 4.5 out of 5. But on IMAX? FIVE STARS.

It was also announced before the show that Monsters vs. Aliens is the first Dreamworks animated feature to be made available in 3D. First. Meaning there will be a second, third, fourth, and many more! Awwyeah! I can’t wait for Up now!
