Cowboy Bebop Live Action Movie in the Works!
This has got to be one of the best news I've heard today! On June 22, the IFMagazine.com entertainment website reported that film producer Erwin Stoff (The Matrix) is developing a live-action adaptation of Sunrise's Cowboy Bebop multi-genre action anime series for Fox. How awesome is that? Read full post...
Cowboy Bebop is an anime series back in 1999. It's set in 2071, and follows a group of bounty hunters travelling aboard a ship called the Bebop. This is one of my favorite anime series, being hilarious, action-packed and awesome, all at the same time. And on top of that, it has a superb sountrack! (And we expect nothing less from Yoko Kanno.)
When I first heard the news, I practically jumped up and down in joy....
...until I remembered certain disappointing live action adaptations recently.
But IFMagazine says:
Before any of you BEBOP fanboys/fangirls get your skivvies in a twist about yet another questionable anime-to-human adaptation (see: DRAGONBALL), iF made sure to get an oath of fidelity to the original material from Stoff.Haha! That one cracked me up. Oh, man, they'd BETTER make this a good one lest fans will go amok.
There isn't a lot of info yet (as in casting, production and projected screening dates) so I'm crossing my fingers, hoping for the best, and keeping my eyes pried for more news. :)
And in the mean time, we can all listen to Tank! and the rest of the sountrack.

Great! --- hopefully they translate the hipster-meets-noir(ish) multiplied by (dare I say it?) "cool" flair that the series has.
