show me the money!
Those who know me know that I've been blogging for a couple of years. And those who know me well know that I've been writing for several years. And those who know me really well know that I like reviewing and commenting on things.
Yep, I have a mouth and a brain that work hard to share what I think about things. Be it movies, music, services, personalities, food; Be it corny or interesting, good or bad. Some people even said that I should be working as a critic. A friend who works at a TV network even tried to get me to work for them as a program analyst... Or something.
Anyway... on to my next point.
Now that I've been working, I'm starting to get trained to recognize money-making opportunities when I see them. And not only that, I'm slowly starting to develop a habit of studying them, and seizing them when the deal looks good.
Recently, I've been seeing -- or, rather, finally giving my attention to -- a money-making opportunity that I've pretty much ignored for the past few years: paid blogging.
Here's why I've ignored it so far: I've never liked getting ads popping up on my screen, or worse, right smack in the middle of my websites. Also, the thought of having ads that have nothing to do with my own writings just annoys me. So the idea of writing about those things that I don't even have interest in, just for the sake of getting moolah, has never been attractive to me.
Until now.
For, like, several hundred times this month --- not exaggerating --- I've been stumbling upon blog entries and articles about paid blogging. I've tried to ignore them, skimming down to the other posts. But it won't let me go. Paid blogging was, like, screaming at me.
So I finally gave up and read on it.
And I discovered a couple of things that made me smile. It made me raise an eyebrow, too, but I was still smiling a bit.
I bet many people already know this, but I also bet that there are a LOT of people who, like me, are still stuck in that mentality that ads are badbadbad. If that's you, then read on.
First, I found out that I don't have to put advertisement-looking advertisements on my site to get paid. I can actually embed them on your site as if I was actually advertising them and not only doing it to get paid. What I can do is put text links. No cheesy-looking banners required. Holy crap. I've been advertising through text links for, like, forever! It's about freakin' time I get paid to do it!
Second, I found out that I can choose what to advertise. Unlike before when I had no control what the advertising company puts in pop-ups, I can actually choose what to advertise. Recently advertisers have made this promise to only advertise products and services relevant to my content. But now, I get to choose which products and services to put on there!
And lastly, I found that I can get paid per post, whether or not people click on the links, and whether or not those posts are positive. Wow. My efforts will not be in vain. How cool is that? I enrolled in Google AdSense a couple of months ago, and I've earned a grand total of.... $0. Ahehehehe. Now, I'm not saying that AdSense doesn't work. Some people actually DO earn from that. I'm just saying that it doesn't work for me because the people who look at my blog usually aren't the people who like to click on ads.
So now, taking all the new things I discovered, I'm going to go and enroll myself in those programs. I already signed up for Blogvertise, and I'll fix up my registration at Blog2Profit. I'm not sure which one will work best for me, but a friend told me that both works well. Oh, by the way, I'd appreciate it greatly if you put sarahcada@gmail.com as your referrer if you decide to try this, too.
This definitely does NOT mean that this blog will be full of advertisements. Oh, God, no. Life will go on as usual...
Difference is: I'll be getting paid for it. Ahahahaha. ^_____^

If you try to kinda hide the advert, you're not going to make any money because nobody will see it. The trick is to make it inoffensive yet noticable, but that's hard. Good luck, I hope that it works.
